San Angelo, Texas – Immigrants from 16 different countries became part of the United States of America as new citizens on December 4, 2019 through a ceremony held at Angelo State University. A total of 70 immigrants took the oath.
The Judge John R. Parker presided over the ceremony. “The history of this country is a history of immigrants except for the native Americans we are all from somewhere else,” commented Parker.
The guest speaker was Dr. John E. Klingemann, new Dean of Angelo State University.
The oldest person of the new citizens was Mi Kyong Tatum at 74 years old and the youngest being 18 years old Mahira Judith Tapia Corpus.
Among the people interviewed, Carlos Carmona, who along with his wife María Magdalena, swore in as new citizens, both from the state of Coahuila, Mexico.
One of the participants was Yadira Manzanares Jimenez from Nicaragua. “I am very happy to have become a citizen, after being here 30 years,” stated Manzanares Jimenez.

San Ángelo, Texas – Inmigrantes de 16 países diferentes se convirtieron en parte de los Estados Unidos de América como nuevos ciudadanos a través de una ceremonia celebrada en la Universidad Estatal Angelo. Un total de 70 inmigrantes hicieron el juramento.
El juez John R. Parker presidió la ceremonia. "La historia de este país es una historia de inmigrantes a excepción de los nativos americanos ya que todos somos de otro lugar", comentó Parker.
El orador invitado fue el Dr. John E. Klingemann, nuevo decano de la Universidad Estatal Angelo.
De los nuevos ciudadanos la persona de más edad era Mi Kyong Tatum de 74 años y el más joven con 18 años, Mahira Judith Tapia Corpus.
De las personas entrevistadas se incluyó, Carlos Carmona quien junto con su esposa María Magdalena juramentaron como nuevos ciudadanos, ambos originarios del estado de Coahuila, México.
Yadira Manzanares Jiménez de Nicaragua. Manzanares Jiménez dijo, “Estoy muy feliz de haberme hecho ciudadana después de estar aquí 30 años”.
