How is the police dept enforcing the community the ordinance of using a mask?
The Del Rio Police Department is committed to educating and informing the community on current local ordinances and state orders in regard to protective measures against COVID-19. When Officers encounter a patron, who is not wearing a mask, we kindly explain to them the local and state regulations.
Is there restriction for minors to be gathered in public setting or event during this pandemic without an adult supervision?
The City of Del Rio Mayor and Council amended the Disaster Declaration Ordinance on July 1, 2020 implementing a juvenile curfew for those under the age of 17 beginning each night at 10:00 P.M. until 6:00 A.M. each morning, while any emergency orders are in place. The exceptions present in the codified Juvenile Curfew Ordinance shall apply. The Juvenile Curfew Ordinance Defenses are pasted below:

We have noticed that the Del Rio police department is interacting with citizens going or coming from Mexico, what is the reason for this interaction?
Recently there were officers stationed at the Port of Entry performing a security detail at certain times of the day, more for security reasons as opposed to citizen contact; this was at the City of Del Rio toll booth plaza area. In addition, we have received calls for service regarding crashes, impatient drivers returning from Mexico and wanted persons who were intercepted at the CBP Port of Entry, where officers had to investigate these matters.
What would you like to say to the community?
Though some of the ordinances, declarations and changes have been difficult to follow and accept, they are challenging indeed and in most cases something that almost everyone has never had to go through in their entire life-time. Nevertheless, when you know someone, have a family member or a co-worker who has fallen victim to this virus, it will likely change your view and opinion about why we should be following these precautions and safety measures that are being imposed upon us all. Is it inconvenient, absolutely; I do not like it anymore that anyone else who is frustrated and feels that it has changed their life-style, but it is necessary and I ask that our community, visitors and guests do their best to try and take on that same spirit until we can gain control of the amount of cases that are popping up. Wear your mask, wash your hands, use sanitizer and please do not go places unless you absolutely have to. I have been doing it myself, and it is hard to digest and accept, but after going through a quarantine myself after an exposure, I understand why this is all necessary.

El Departamento de Policía de Del Rio se compromete a educar e informar a la comunidad sobre las ordenanzas locales actuales y las órdenes estatales con respecto a las medidas de protección contra COVID-19. Cuando los oficiales se encuentran con el patrón de no llevar una máscara, les explicamos amablemente las regulaciones locales y estatales.
¿Existe alguna restricción para que los menores se reúnan en un lugar o evento público durante esta pandemia sin la supervisión de un adulto?
El 1 de julio de 2020, el alcalde y el consejo de la ciudad de Del Río enmendaron la ordenanza de la declaración de desastres implementando un toque de queda juvenil para los menores de 17 años que comienza cada noche a las 10:00 p.m. hasta las 6:00 a.m. cada mañana, mientras que cualquier orden de emergencia está en su lugar. Se aplicarán las excepciones presentes en la Ordenanza de toque de queda juvenil codificada. Las defensas de la ordenanza de toque de queda juvenil se pegan a continuación:

Hemos notado que el departamento de policía de Del Río está interactuando con ciudadanos que van o vienen de México, ¿cuál es la razón de esta interacción?
Recientemente, había oficiales estacionados en el Puerto de Entrada que realizaban un detalle de seguridad en ciertos momentos del día, más por razones de seguridad que por contacto con ciudadanos; Esto fue en el área de la plaza de peaje de la Ciudad de Del Río. Además, hemos recibido llamadas de servicio con respecto a accidentes, conductores impacientes que regresan de México y personas buscadas que fueron interceptadas en el Puerto de Entrada de CBP, donde los oficiales tuvieron que investigar estos asuntos.
¿Qué le gustaría decirle a la comunidad?
Aunque algunas de las ordenanzas, declaraciones y cambios han sido difíciles de seguir y aceptar, son realmente desafiantes y, en la mayoría de los casos, algo por lo que casi todo el mundo nunca ha tenido que pasar en toda su vida. Sin embargo, cuando conoce a alguien, tiene un familiar o un compañero de trabajo que ha sido víctima de este virus, es probable que cambie su punto de vista y opinión sobre por qué deberíamos seguir estas precauciones y medidas de seguridad que se nos imponen a todos. ¿Absolutamente es inconveniente? Ya no me gusta que nadie esté más frustrado y sienta que ha cambiado su estilo de vida, pero es necesario y pido a nuestra comunidad, visitantes e invitados hagan todo lo posible para tratar de asumir ese mismo espíritu hasta que nosotros podamos obtener el control de la cantidad de casos que están apareciendo. Use su máscara, lávese las manos, use desinfectante y no vaya a ningún lugar a menos que sea absolutamente necesario. Lo he estado haciendo yo mismo, y es difícil de digerir y aceptar, pero después de pasar por una cuarentena después de una exposición, entiendo por qué todo esto es necesario.
