Del Rio, Texas – On April 10, 2022, at approximately 1140 hours, Del Rio Police
Department officers were handling a call for service at the 500 block of Cochran Street when
they heard a single gunshot fired near the area. Officers searched the area and located a
scene of a recent disturbance at the Minit-Mart store located at 620 Las Vacas Street.
Officers observed a red in color sedan leaving the scene at a high rate of speed and
witnesses in the area pointed at the vehicle as it departed. Officers attempted to stop the
vehicle, but it failed to yield for officers. A short vehicle pursuit ensued as the vehicle
continued to travel eastbound on West Nicholson. The vehicle came to a stop at 421 W.
Nicholson where the driver, identified as Jose Antonio Alvarado Diaz, DOB 11/12/1985, was
ordered out of the vehicle and was detained for further investigation.
Additional officers at the scene of the Minit-Mart located a 43-year-old male injured from a
single shot to the lower part of his body. The victim was provided first aid by officers onscene and EMS was requested. The victim was transported to Val Verde Regional Medical
Center and was later transported to University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas for further
treatment.
The Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and processed for evidence.
36-year-old Jose Antonio Alvarado Diaz was arrested and charged with the offense of
Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

DRPD INVESTIGA TIRO EN TIENDA LOCAL

Del Rio, Texas – El 10 de abril de 2022, aproximadamente a las 11:40 horas, la policía de Del Rio
Los oficiales del departamento estaban manejando una llamada de servicio en la cuadra 500 de Cochran Street cuando
escucharon un solo disparo cerca del área. Los agentes registraron la zona y localizaron un
escena de un disturbio reciente en la tienda Minit-Mart ubicada en la calle Las Vacas 620.
Los oficiales observaron un sedán de color rojo que abandonaba la escena a alta velocidad y
testigos en el área señalaron al vehículo cuando partía. Los oficiales intentaron detener el
vehículo, pero no cedió el paso a los oficiales. Se produjo una breve persecución del vehículo cuando el vehículo
continuó viajando hacia el este en West Nicholson. El vehículo se detuvo en 421 W.
Nicholson donde el conductor, identificado como Jose Antonio Alvarado Diaz, Fecha de nacimiento 11/12/1985, fue
se le ordenó salir del vehículo y fue detenido para una mayor investigación.
Oficiales adicionales en la escena del Minit-Mart localizaron a un hombre de 43 años herido por un
un solo disparo en la parte inferior de su cuerpo. La víctima recibió primeros auxilios por parte de los oficiales en la escena y se solicitó EMS. La víctima fue transportada al Médico Regional de Val Verde.
Centro y luego fue transportado al Hospital Universitario en San Antonio, Texas para más
tratamiento.
La División de Investigación Criminal acudió a la escena y procesó en busca de pruebas.
José Antonio Alvarado Díaz, de 36 años, fue detenido y acusado del delito de
Asalto agravado con un arma mortal.
