God Delivered the Dream

Conexion San Angelo/Newsroom

SAN ANGELO, TX – Tony Cuellar owner of Q99.5 Tejano y Mas, wanted to be in radio since he was a young man but didn’t know how to go about it. “I made it a dream. Putting God first he delivered the dream on his time,” stated Cuellar. Together with his wife Gloria, they started the journey 7 years ago and have now been on the Broadcasting for 5 years.

The name Tejano y Mas derives from Tony’s childhood as he recalls listening to different types of music not just Spanish or Tejano. Tony and Gloria have learned the different parts of the radio business during the 5 years that they have been in business. Tony takes care of the technical, engineering and audio. Gloria deals with the purpose of the business. “My wife has a big part in where the radio station is today. It was my dream and my wife allowed me to have my dream because she loves me,” commented Tony. This was never Gloria’s dream, but she has no regrets. “We work very well together are very blessed to leave something for our children and grandchildren to takeover. We have our struggles, but we manage with God directing us in the right direction. At the end of the day it is for our community and for our culture, we don’t want to lose it.” commented Gloria. The vision that Tony and Gloria have is to teach the younger generation about culture and the music so that it doesn’t fade away. “It’s been a long journey and we thank God for allowing the dream,” concluded Tony.

Tony and Gloria will be celebrating the radio station’s 5-year birthday bash on October 5th at the Paseo de Santa Angela. There will be live performances, washer pitching tournament, bar-b-que cook-off and activities for children. For more information about the event visit www.q99sanangelo.com/events
