San Angelo, Texas – The San Angelo Pachyderm Club welcomed Mayor Brenda Gunter to their July monthly meeting. Mayor Gunter began by addressing questions from the audience, including the half-cent sales tax. She also stated 1.1 million dollars would be allocated for expansion at the airport. Growth for San Angelo was cited as reason for this investment.
Another issue discussed was the sewage in the same part of town as the airport that affects various areas including Butler Farms. Mayor Gunter said perhaps an election would have to be held later in the year to raise tax funds for repairing the sewage in the area. This, she stated, would be to allow growth for business and residential projects. She concluded her presentation by emphasizing her commitment to growth in San Angelo to attract more work and business investors.
Judge Eddie Howard was also honored at the meeting. The Pachyderm Board of Directors presented him with a certificate for his years of service to the board. Laura Lewis from Senator Charles Perry's office also presented Judge Howard with a Texas flag in recognition for his dedication and service.
The San Angelo Pachyderm Club meets every third Wednesday of the month at Zentner's Daughter Steak House. The meetings are open to the public.
