SAN ANGELO – Terry and Stacey English met in Tyler Texas. They traveled with their portrait business then settled in San Angelo to raise their family. Their oldest son loved basketball, but they knew he needed work. Wanting to help their son develop, they looked for some organizations that traveled for multiple games. They put together a team to join this organization. By the time he finished his first season with this travel team he had dramatically changed his game and as his confidence. Terry and Stacey are now the coaches for Team USA
“Team USA teaches young boys to play basketball and become men, it doesn’t just stop on the court. If they are in trouble in school or have problems, they can come to us and talk. We are giving them life lessons. We are like a big family.” commented Terry English.
“Travel money it gathered by fundraisers, for example we be doing our 3rd annual Brisket plate fundraiser, Friday May 24th we like to give back to the community.” Commented Stacey. They visit hospice patients and sing Christmas carols, prepare food boxes for the needy and participate in events such as the Autism Walk. The boys on the teams from 6th to 8th grade they try to seek out events to participate in that touch home with the team members. One team member suffers from epilepsy therefore in November (National Epilepsy Month) they are thinking about putting together a tournament to raise money for that cause.
“A lot of this is keeping these kids busy and steering them away from any temptations that are not good which is tenfold what we went through. All our parents are on the same page and are very supportive, we do not charge our parents or kids to be a part of our organization. Seeing kids who didn’t believe in themselves make a winning basket and see their confidence build literally make me tear up.” commented Stacey.

SAN ANGELO – Terry y Stacey se reunieron en Tyler Texas. Viajaron con su negocio de retratos y luego se establecieron en San Angelo para criar a su familia. Su hijo mayor amaba el baloncesto, pero sabían que él necesitaba trabajar. Queriendo ayudar a su hijo a desarrollarse, buscaron algunas organizaciones que viajaron para múltiples juegos. Ellos formaron un equipo para unirse a esta organización. Cuando terminó su primera temporada con este equipo de viajes, había cambiado drásticamente su juego y su confianza. Terry y Stacey son ahora los entrenadores del equipo USA.
"El equipo de USA enseña a los niños a jugar baloncesto y convertirse en hombres, no se limita a detenerse en la cancha. Si tienen problemas en la escuela o tienen problemas, pueden venir a hablar con nosotros. Les estamos dando lecciones de vida. Somos como una gran familia. “Comentó Terry English.
El dinero del viaje es recolectado por recaudaciones de fondos, por ejemplo, el viernes 24 de mayo estaremos haciendo nuestra tercera recaudación anual de fondos de platos de Brisque, nos gusta devolverle a la comunidad”. Comentó Terry. Visitan a pacientes de cuidados paliativos y cantan villancicos, preparan cajas de comida para los necesitados y participan en eventos como la caminata del Autismo. Los muchachos en los equipos del 6º al 8º grado intentan buscar eventos para participar en ese contacto con los miembros del equipo. Un miembro del equipo sufre de epilepsia, por lo que en noviembre (Mes Nacional de la Epilepsia) están pensando en organizar un torneo para recaudar fondos para esa causa.
“Mucho de esto es mantener a estos niños ocupados y alejarlos de cualquier tentación que no sea buena, lo cual es diez veces más de lo que pasamos. Todos nuestros padres están en la misma página y son muy comprensivos, no les cobramos a nuestros padres o hijos por ser parte de nuestra organización. Ver a los niños que no creían en sí mismos, hacer una canasta ganadora y ver cómo se fortalece su confianza, literalmente, me hace llorar", comentó Stacey.
