Del Rio, Texas – Born in the Texas Capital of the World, San Antonio Texas, Jesse Torres brings alive generations of Tejano-Conjunto accordion music to not just Texas or the USA, but to the world.
“I have been told that I have been bringing Tejano Music alive,” Jesse Torres Jr. said. “That because since Selena died, this style of music was coming down. But that was not true.”
Torres most of his music life has been dedicated as a DJ, started when records LP was used to play music, going through the CDs area until now including producing music shows to recognize Tejano musicians.
"I started the Conjunto Tejano Music Awards in May 2018 at the Cadillac Bar in San Antonio," Jesse said. “Around 800 people attended the event, even the City Mayor showed up. It was a tremendous success. I was amazed because we had such a huge impact,”
Torres said that the Coronavirus did not stop him and needed to continue promoting and recognizing Tejano music everywhere.
“It seems the pandemic is discouraging people in attending dances and festivities,” Jesse said. “But, thanks to Facebook we could do something for the conjuntos to continue performing.”
Jesse said that this year, he had plans to do a 2nd annual event at La Villita by the San Antonio Riverwalk, but it was almost impossible because of COVID-19 and he came up with the idea to do the event virtually and that took place last July.
“At this time, my message to anyone seeking to enter the entertaining business is to reach to the stars, do not give up,” Jesse said.
Jesse said there are plans to do a Conjunto Awards this coming December 19th in San Antonio, TX the location is still to be determined.

Del Rio, Texas – Nacido en San Antonio Texas, Texas la capital del mundo, Jesse Torres da vida a generaciones de música de acordeón Tejano-Conjunto no solo a Texas o los Estados Unidos, sino al mundo.
“Me han dicho que he estado dando vida a la música tejana”, dijo Jesse Torres Jr. “Eso es porque desde que Selena murió, este estilo de música estaba bajando. Pero eso no era cierto".
La mayor parte de su vida musical, Torres la ha dedicado como DJ, inició cuando se utilizaban discos LP para reproducir música, pasando por el área de los CD hasta ahora incluyendo la producción de programas musicales para reconocer a los músicos tejanos.
"Comencé los premios Conjunto Tejano Music Awards en mayo de 2018 en el Cadillac Bar de San Antonio", dijo Jesse. “Alrededor de 800 personas asistieron al evento, incluso el alcalde de la ciudad se presentó. Fue un éxito tremendo. Me sorprendió pues tuvimos un gran impacto”, dijo Jesse.
Torres dijo que el Coronavirus no lo detuvo y necesitaba seguir promocionando y reconociendo la música tejana en todas partes.
“Parece que la pandemia está desanimando a la gente a asistir a bailes y festividades”, dijo Jesse. "Pero, gracias a Facebook, pudimos hacer algo para que los conjuntos sigan funcionando".
Jesse dijo que este año tenía planes de hacer un 2do evento anual en La Villita por el Riverwalk de San Antonio, pero era casi imposible por el COVID-19 y se le ocurrió la idea de hacer el evento virtualmente y eso se llevó a cabo en Julio pasado.
"En este momento, mi mensaje para cualquiera que busque ingresar al negocio del entretenimiento es llegar a las estrellas, no se rinda", dijo Jesse.
