City announces finalists for city manager position

The San Angelo City Council has named three finalists to interview for the position of city manager. The finalists are:
• Jerry Hendrix, former interim city manager/assistant city manager of Kyle, Texas
• Jud Rex, former city manager of Garland, Texas
• Phillip Urrutia, assistant city manager of Garland, Texas
The City will host a community meet-and-greet with the finalists at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at the McNease Convention Center, 501 Rio Concho Drive. Candidates will briefly introduce themselves and speak with members of the public.
On Wednesday, May 27, the candidates interview with three panels: City Council members, City department directors and community leaders.
City Council will make the final determination on who will serve as San Angelo’s next city manager.
The City Council hired Mosaic Public Partners to assist with the search and hiring process. Mosaic presented 29 qualified candidates to a council subcommittee, which narrowed the field to six candidates. The full council then reduced the list to the finalists.
Current City Manager Daniel Valenzuela is scheduled to retire Oct. 31 after 14 years of service to the City of San Angelo.
La ciudad anuncia a los finalistas para el puesto de administrador municipal
El Concejo Municipal de San Angelo ha designado a tres finalistas para ser entrevistados para el puesto de administrador municipal. Los finalistas son:
• Jerry Hendrix, exadministrador municipal interino y asistente del administrador municipal de Kyle, Texas.
• Jud Rex, exadministrador municipal de Garland, Texas.
• Phillip Urrutia, asistente del administrador municipal de Garland, Texas.
La ciudad organizará un encuentro comunitario con los finalistas el martes 26 de mayo a las 5:30 p. m. en el Centro de Convenciones McNease, ubicado en 501 Rio Concho Drive. Los candidatos se presentarán brevemente y conversarán con los miembros del público.
El miércoles 27 de mayo, los candidatos serán entrevistados por tres paneles: los miembros del Concejo Municipal, los directores de los departamentos de la ciudad y líderes comunitarios.
El Concejo Municipal tomará la decisión final sobre quién ocupará el cargo de próximo administrador municipal de San Angelo.
El Concejo Municipal contrató a Mosaic Public Partners para asistir en el proceso de búsqueda y contratación. Mosaic presentó 29 candidatos cualificados a un subcomité del concejo, el cual redujo la lista a seis candidatos. Posteriormente, el concejo en pleno redujo la lista hasta llegar a los finalistas actuales.
El actual administrador municipal, Daniel Valenzuela, tiene previsto jubilarse el 31 de octubre, tras 14 años de servicio a la ciudad de San Angelo.
