Dr. Christopher Schmitt, classical pianist and the Lake View High School Mariachi Los Caciques

SAN ANGELO – Dr. Christopher Schmitt, professional, pianist, and the Lake View High School Mariachi Los Caciques, classical meets Mariachi music experiment was deemed a success when both collaborated to produce a command performance. The Schmitt- Mariachi Los Caciques’ performance took place at the Lake View High School auditorium on Friday, October 7, 2022, from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Dr. Schmitt from The Juilliard School, who has a Doctorate in Piano Performance and a member of the "President's Own" US Marine Band, was the guest pianist who blended his classical performance with the Mariachi Los Caciques effortlessly and professionally.

The first selection performed, “El Son de La Negra” was a Mexican folksong masterpiece written by musical composer Blas Galindo.

The third piece on the list Dr. Schmitt performed was “Suite for Orchestra No. 1 by Dmitry Shostakovich.” He was accompanied by trumpeter, Isaac Carrales.

The other pieces performed included: “Sonata Op 27, No. 2 Moonlight/Mvmt”, “Mephisto Walz”, “Sabor a Mi,” and “Zacatecas”.
