Del Rio, Texas – On Thursday February 27, the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce and the Laughlin Air Force base held a Dinner and Awards Banquet honoring the winners of the top awards for 2019.
Among those recognized for having shown commitment and dedication to the people of this Texas community, was Joshua Guevara who received the award of a Youth Leader, representing the new generation in the Community.
“I have lived in this community all my life,” said Guevara “I love the potential it has.”
“My family has supported me a lot,” said Guevara. “For many different reasons, this year has been a tough one.
The Chamber had as a guest speaker to Vanessa Croix, multimedia journalist from KENS5 San Antonio. Vanessa covers Del Rio and the surrounding region and even owns a home in Brackettville.
“I am a former Hi School teacher and counsellor”, said Vanessa. “Besides talking about my media career, I came to talk about how to write stories that are important to students.”
The Del Rio Chamber of Commerce is excited to honor the best of its community during dinner and the awards banquet, said Blanca Larson, president of the Chamber of Commerce.
"We have been recognizing our partners and members of the community and the base area for 20 years," said Larson.
The Del Rio Chamber of Commerce promotes and stimulate economic development, by creating and stimulate opportunities among members, corporations, government agencies by facilitating and engaging each other in cooperation to promote and build the Del Rio area.

Del Rio, Texas – El jueves 27 de febrero, la Cámara de Comercio de Del Río y la base de la Fuerza Aérea Laughlin celebraron una cena y un banquete de premiación en honor a los ganadores de los principales premios correspondientes al año 2019.
Entre los reconocidos por haber demostrado un compromiso y dedicación con esta comunidad de Texas, fue Joshua Guevara, quien recibió su premio como un Líder Juvenil, representando a la nueva generación en la Comunidad.
"He vivido en esta comunidad toda mi vida", dijo Guevara. "Me encanta el potencial que tiene".
"Mi familia me ha apoyado mucho", dijo Guevara. “Por muchas razones diferentes, este año ha sido difícil.
La Cámara tuvo como oradora invitada a Vanessa Croix, periodista de multimedios de KENS5 San Antonio. Vanessa cubre Del Río y la región circundante e incluso posee una casa en Brackettville.
"Soy un exmaestra y consejera del High School”, dijo Vanessa. "Además de hablar sobre mi carrera en los medios, vine a hablar sobre cómo escribir historias que son importantes para los estudiantes".
La Cámara de Comercio de Del Río se complace en honrar a lo mejor de su comunidad durante la cena y el banquete de premiación, dijo Blanca Larson, presidenta de la Cámara de Comercio.
"Hemos estado reconociendo a nuestros socios y miembros de la comunidad y la base aérea durante 20 años", dijo Larson.
La Cámara de Comercio de Del Rio promueve y estimula el desarrollo económico, al crear y estimular oportunidades entre los miembros, corporaciones, agencias gubernamentales al facilitar y comprometerse mutuamente en la cooperación para promover y construir el área de Del Rio.
