Del Rio, Texas - City of Del Rio Municipal Court Judge, Eric Bayne, has been recently
appointed to the Council of the Municipal Judge’s Section of the State Bar of Texas.
The purpose of the Municipal Judge's Section is to further the administration of justice, to
provide a forum for the interchange of matters of legal import among other courts of limited
jurisdiction, and to cooperate closely with the State Bar of Texas and other professional
organizations in developing, supporting, and promoting legal and professional activities
affecting Municipal Courts. The Section is organized of a ten-member Section Council, onehalf of which is elected for two-year terms in the annual meeting with a Chairman, ViceChairman, and Secretary-Treasurer as officers elected for one-year terms.
“I am honored to have been appointed to this leadership position,” said Judge Bayne. “I look
forward to my service on the council. At the expiration of my term in 2022, I intend to stand
for election so that I may continue that service.”
With over 100,000 active members, the State Bar of Texas exists to support the administration
of the legal system, assure all citizens equal access to justice, foster high standards of ethical
conduct for lawyers, enable its members to better serve their clients and the public, educate
the public about the rule of law, and promote diversity in the administration of justice and the
practice of law.
The City of Del Rio applauds Judge Bayne for this prestigious appointment. Judge Bayne
began his service to the Del Rio Municipal Court as an Alternate Judge, later advancing to a
part-time Presiding Judge, and in October 2019, became Del Rio’s first full-time Municipal
Court Judge.

Del Rio, Texas - El juez de la corte municipal de la ciudad de Del Rio, Eric Bayne, ha sido recientemente
designado al Consejo de la Sección de Jueces Municipales del Colegio de Abogados del Estado de Texas.
El propósito de la Sección de Jueces Municipales es promover la administración de justicia, para
proporcionar un foro para el intercambio de asuntos de importancia legal entre otros tribunales de
jurisdicción, y cooperar estrechamente con el State Bar of Texas y otros profesionales
organizaciones en el desarrollo, apoyo y promoción de actividades legales y profesionales
que afectan a los Juzgados Municipales. La Sección está organizada en un Consejo de Sección de diez miembros, uno de los cuales se elige por períodos de dos años en la reunión anual con un Presidente, un Vicepresidente y un Secretario-Tesorero como funcionarios elegidos por períodos de un año.
