Murder Investigation

On February 10, 2026, at 6:41 p.m., Officers were dispatched to the 0 Block of N. Bishop for a death investigation. Upon arrival, Officers located a deceased male, identified as 36-year-old Justin James. During the investigation, Officers discovered a stab wound on the victim’s body.

The Criminal Investigations Division was requested to the scene and assumed control of the investigation. Investigators determined that the suspect, 39-year-old Drew Green, entered the residence, stabbed the victim while he was in bed, and then fled the scene. The investigation further revealed that the suspect and the victim knew each other and that this was not a random act of violence.

Yesterday afternoon, Officers located the suspect at a residence in the 100 Block of West 20th Street and observed him walking away from the location. Officers attempted to detain Green for Pedestrian Walking with the Flow of Traffic. Green fled from Officers but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody without incident.

Green was transported to the Tom Green County Jail and charged with:

 Pedestrian Walking with the Flow of Traffic (MC)

 Evading Arrest/Detention (MA)

 Warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon out of Harris County

During his arraignment this morning, a charge of Murder (F1) was added.

Green is also a registered Sex Offender out of Harris County.

The San Angelo Police Department would like to highlight that less than 24 hours elapsed between the initial call and the suspect being taken into custody. This reflects the swift response and coordinated efforts of our Patrol Officers, Criminal Investigations Division, and Special Operations Group.

El 10 de febrero de 2026, a las 18:41, los agentes fueron enviados a la cuadra 0 de N. Bishop para investigar una muerte. A su llegada, localizaron a un hombre fallecido, identificado como Justin James, de 36 años. Durante la investigación, descubrieron una herida de arma blanca en el cuerpo de la víctima.

La División de Investigaciones Criminales acudió al lugar de los hechos y asumió el control de la investigación. Los investigadores determinaron que el sospechoso, Drew Green, de 39 años, entró en la residencia, apuñaló a la víctima mientras estaba en la cama y luego huyó. La investigación reveló además que el sospechoso y la víctima se conocían y que no se trataba de un acto violento fortuito.

Ayer por la tarde, los agentes localizaron al sospechoso en una residencia en la cuadra 100 de West 20th Street y lo observaron alejarse del lugar. Los agentes intentaron detener a Green por caminar en el sentido del tráfico. Green huyó de los oficiales, pero fue rápidamente detenido y puesto bajo custodia sin incidentes.

Green fue trasladado a la Cárcel del Condado de Tom Green y acusado de:

 Peatón Caminando en el Flujo del Tráfico (MC)

 Evasión de Arresto/Detención (MA)

 Orden de Agresión Agravada con Arma Mortal del Condado de Harris

Durante su comparecencia esta mañana, se le añadió un cargo de Asesinato (F1).

Green también está registrado como delincuente sexual en el Condado de Harris.

El Departamento de Policía de San Angelo desea destacar que transcurrieron menos de 24 horas entre la llamada inicial y la detención del sospechoso. Esto refleja la rápida respuesta y los esfuerzos coordinados de nuestros Oficiales de Patrulla, la División de Investigaciones Criminales y el Grupo de Operaciones Especiales.
