National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
By: Conexión San Angelo
On October 23rd, Conexión San Angelo attended an event hosted by the Alcohol & Drug Awareness Center for the Concho Valley (ADACCV) at the Johnson Avenue Church. The event, which ran from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., was dedicated to collecting expired or unused medications from people's homes.
Sergeant McAndrews issued a call to the community, urging residents to bring in any medications they no longer use so that they can be collected and disposed of safely. "We need to be responsible," he noted. The Police Department and the ADACCV have been organizing this event for the community for over a decade; today, several boxes of medication were collected.
According to Sergeant McAndrews—who was joined by officers Jaime and Sara, as well as Kayla Gómez from the ADACCV—the goal is to prevent these medications from falling into the wrong hands and to provide support for individuals living with substance use disorders. We thank the Police Department and the ADACCV for their support of our community and for helping to ensure our safety.
