Del Rio, Texas – La maestra María del Pilar Martínez nació en Sabinas, Coahuila. Ella dijo, “En mi casa podría faltar todo menos libros.”
Su madre fue su maestra durante 3 años, asistió a la escuela en Acuña luego estudió en Saltillo para ser educadora de primaria. Ella continuó sus estudios durante 40 años para poder continuar enseñando en diferentes niveles.
Debido a que tenían la misma profesión, su esposo fue de gran apoyo para ella. Cuando ella tenía 12 años, escribió su primer poema y más tarde en la secundaria escribió su primera columna periodística sobre la amistad. “Me pagaron $5 porque gané el tercer lugar.”
Ella dijo: “La mayor recompensa es que, donde trabajé, fue interesante saber cómo hablar y escribir, mis alumnos recuerdan mis clases, el mayor elogio para mí fue que dijeron: (No eres una profesora aburrida). La maestra María del Pilar ha sido reconocida por gobernadores, ganó varios premios en Coahuila y en 1998 ganó un premio nacional. Su hija, Eda Laura Cerda Martínez, es quien hizo su primer libro, “Versos Con Alma

Del Rio, Texas – Teacher Maria del Pilar Martinez was born in Sabina’s, Coahuila. She says, “In my house we could lack everything, but we had to have books.”
Her mother was her teacher for 3 years, she attended school in Acuna and later studied in Saltillo do be an elementary educator. She continued her studies for 40 years in order to be able to continue to teach at different levels.
Because they had the same profession, her husband was of great support for her. When she was 12 years old, she wrote her first poem and later in junior high she wrote her first newspaper column about friendship. “They paid me $5 because I won third place.”
She said, “The biggest reward is that, where I worked, it was interesting to know how to speak and write my students remember my classes, the biggest praise for me was that they said, (You are not a boring teacher). Teacher Maria del Pilar has been recognized by governors, won various awards in Coahuila and in 1998 she won a national award. Her daughter, Eda Laura Cerda Martinez, is the one who had her first book made “Soul Verses”.
