On Thursday, February 6 the National Prayer Breakfast 2020 was held at the San Angelo McNease Convention Center. Lisa Whelchel was the keynote speaker.
Whelchel is best know for her role as “ Blair” on NBC'S “The Facts of life although her acting career started as a Mouseketeer for Walt Disney. She is also an accomplished author and international speaker.
“Nothing is more important to me than four people to know how much God loves them. My successes is a platform that allows me the opportunity to share that with more people,” stated Whelchel.
The event had many sponsors including individuals and businesses. Music was provided by the Lincoln Middle School Mariachi Band. There was also a presentation of colors by the Goodfellow Airforce Base Color Guard.
Special scripture was read from the New Testament as well as from the Old Testament and Travis Gray lead a Prayer for the Nation and our leaders.
The National Prayer Breakfast became known as such in 1970. It dates back to 1942 when senators and representatives held informal prayer meetings.
