Del Rio, Texas – Dolores Ortiz held back her tears as she spoke to Conexión about the accomplishments of her son, Raul Ortiz. Raul was appointed the Chief Patrol Agent of the Del Rio Sector on April 17, 2019 by Homeland Security. “What can a mother say, I love him with all my heart and if his father was here, he would say the same,” commented Mrs. Ortiz.
Raul was not born in Del Rio, but he and his 2 siblings were raised there so they consider the city their hometown. The late Mr. Jose Ortiz, Raul’s father, was originally from Del Rio therefore the family moved back to his hometown Del Rio from Belton immediately when Mrs. Ortiz graduated college. She began her career as a teacher in Del Rio and stayed in the same field her entire life. Mr. Ortiz was a barber. “Everyone called him Mr. O, and everyone knew him more than me,” commented Mrs. Ortiz.
Raul’s father loved his three children very much and they were everything to him. “He had great pride in being their father, especially for Raul because of the career he chose,” concluded Mrs. Ortiz.

Del Rio, Texas – Dolores Ortiz contuvo sus lágrimas mientras hablaba con Conexión sobre los logros de su hijo, Raul Ortiz. El 17 de abril de 2019, Raúl fue nombrado Agente de Patrulla en Jefe del Sector Del Rio por Seguridad Nacional. "¿Qué puede decir una madre? Lo amo con todo mi corazón y si su padre estuviera aquí, diría lo mismo", comentó la Sra. Ortiz.
Raúl no nació en Del Rio, pero él y sus dos hermanos fueron criados allí, por lo que consideran la ciudad como su ciudad natal. El padre de Raúl, Sr. José Ortiz, ya fallecido era originario de Del Rio, por lo que la familia inmediatamente desde la ciudad de Belton se regresó a Del Rio. Cuando la Sra. Ortiz se graduó de la universidad comenzó su carrera como maestra en Del Rio y permaneció en el mismo campo toda su vida. El señor Ortiz era barbero. "Todos lo llamaron Sr. O, y todo mundo lo conocía", comentó la Sra. Ortiz.
El padre de Raúl quería mucho a sus tres hijos y lo eran todo para él. "Estaba orgulloso de ser su padre, especialmente para Raúl por la carrera que eligió", concluyó la Sra. Ortiz.
