San Angelo, Texas – When Daniel Valenzuela came to San Angelo the biggest challenge ahead of him was the water supply in San Angelo. “I prayed a lot before I headed to San Angelo,” stated Valenzuela. Just before his arrival San Angelo had a big rainstorm. There are a couple of projects in the works that deal with the water supply for San Angelo’s future. The street repair was also an important issue he was facing.
The West Texas Water Partnership with Abilene and Midland addresses some of the long-term issues. The Concho River Water project is a more immediate resolution. With this project the water treated at the highest standard at the wastewater facility returning it to the Concho River to run its course for 7-8 miles then retrieving it for a second treatment making it drinkable. This project would extend our current water supply through the year 2070.
“When I arrived in San Angelo in 2012 the budget was 680,000, that’s a drop in the bucket, it wasn’t going do anything.” The city developed a maintenance plan now 10 – 12 million dollars are put into the street project every year.
Bringing new businesses to the community will help with increasing the property tax revenues which in turn will help the property taxes. “The current tax rate is .776 per $100 and it has been at that same rate for a decade” concluded Valenzuela.

San Ángelo, Texas – Cuando Daniel Valenzuela llegó a San Ángelo, el mayor desafío que él tenía por delante era el suministro de agua en San Ángelo.
