Maestro Hector Guzman, music director for the San Angelo Symphony is excited about the upcoming 2021-2022 season as the symphony is scheduled for five live performances with the first one set for Nov. 6, 2021.
SAN ANGELO – Any professional musician will tell you that performing before a live audience compared to a virtual performance is totally different. “Because you don’t have that energy the performer experiences. It’s like fuel that is added to a fire” said Maestro Hector Guzman, music director for the San Angelo Symphony.
Guzman and the symphony faced a different type of challenge due to the 2020 pandemic with no live performances.
With the 2020 post pandemic behind them to some degree, Guzman was excited to talk about the upcoming 2021-2022 season as he outlined the five scheduled, live performances.
The first one is titled “Women in Art & Music,” scheduled for Nov. 6, 2021.
The second performance is “A Yuletide Celebration,” set for Dec. 4, 2021.
In the third slot is “Storytellers of Jazz,” on Jan. 29, 2022.
The fourth performance is titled, “The Wild, Wild West” on March 5, 2022.
And the fifth slated performance is with “Michael Martin Murphey” on March 26, 2022.
All performances will be at 7 p.m. and held at the Murphy Performance Hall 72 College Ave.
