SAN ANGELO – Originally from Littlefield, Texas, Justin DeLoach came to San Angelo to attend Angelo State University in 2004. “I fell in love with the town and the people”, stated Justin. When he graduated, he decided to stay in this community. Previously Justin worked at West Texas Rehab. He has been with the Children’s Advocacy Center of Greater West Texas now for 8 months. “My passion is helping people, specially children and families” stated DeLoach.
Being the head of the outreach and awareness in the community, Justin works with the education department and volunteer coordination amongst others. This allows him to meet new people every day and not only share what the Children’s’ Advocacy Center is doing but hear stories from the community. Sometimes everything is good, but he also hears about families that have had hardships and abuse present in their lives. “Its’ really special for me because we really get to know and help the community” commented DeLoach.
“We have seen a rise in child abuse” stated DeLoach. In 2018 the Children’s Advocacy Center saw 3,700 individuals, this includes children, family members and people trained in prevention. There are many aspects of child abuse. “There is no real pin point on trying to figure out where abuse is happening or where its coming from, but it is our job to intervene and protect the child” said DeLoach.
Some may not have children, or their children are grown, but in some form or fashion whether it be through church, volunteering or through jobs there is always contact with children. “When you have a child in your life it is up to us to pave that road and be a part of that child’s life in a positive way, you can be that bright light in a child’s life” concluded DeLoach.

Cuando se graduó, decidió quedarse en esta comunidad. Anteriormente, Justin trabajó en West Texas Rehab. Ha estado con el Centro de Defensa de los Niños del Gran Oeste de Texas por 8 meses. "Mi pasión es ayudar a las personas, especialmente a los niños y las familias", dijo DeLoach.
Ser el jefe de divulgación y sensibilización en la comunidad, Justin trabaja con el departamento de educación y la coordinación de voluntarios entre otros. Esto le permite conocer gente nueva todos los días y no solo compartir lo que hace el Centro de Defensa de los Niños sino también escuchar las historias de la comunidad. A veces todo es bueno, pero también se entera de que las familias que han tenido dificultades y abusos están presentes en sus vidas. "Es realmente especial para mí porque realmente conocemos y ayudamos a la comunidad", comentó DeLoach.
Dijo DeLoach. "En 2018 vimos un aumento en el abuso infantil". El Centro de Defensa de los Niños vio a 3,700 personas, esto incluye a niños, familiares y personas capacitadas en prevención. Hay muchos aspectos del abuso infantil. "No hay un punto clave real al tratar de averiguar dónde está ocurriendo el abuso o de dónde proviene, pero nuestro trabajo es intervenir y proteger al niño", dijo DeLoach.
Algunos pueden no tener hijos, o sus hijos han crecido, pero de alguna forma o forma, ya sea a través de la iglesia, el voluntariado o el trabajo, siempre hay contacto con los niños. "Cuando tienes un hijo en tu vida, depende de nosotros pavimentar ese camino y ser parte de la vida de ese niño de una manera positiva, puedes ser esa luz brillante en la vida de un niño", concluyó DeLoach.
