SAN ANGELO – On Tuesday, May 24, 2022, community members whose children, representing 19, and two teachers at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, were tragically killed by an 18-year-old gunman,
Salvador Ramos.
This past Wednesday, May 24, 2023 marked the one-year anniversary passing of the Uvalde 21 who were laid to rest. The violent upheaval on that Tuesday morning started exactly at 11:33 when a single shooter, Ramos entered the elementary school building and barricaded himself in room 111 against 376 law enforcement officers who converged on the scene. 77 minutes later at precisely 12:50 p.m. Ramos a former student at the school comes out of the supply closet begins to open fire whereupon a breach team returns fire in the process killing him.

As for gun safety legislation update, CNN’s The Lead with Jake Tapper interviewed Rep Congressman, Tony Gonzales (R-TX) who represents the city of Uvalde.
“Today is a difficult day for the parents who lost their children, also for the parents whose children survived the shooting,” said Gonzalez.
“Congressman, parents are still fighting to get answers, still fighting for accountability. Why is it taking so long? Will they ever get the answers they deserve?” Tapper asked. “I am less interested in pointing fingers and blaming other folks and I'm more interested in working with others to get meaningful pieces of legislation done. You know, I'm a conservative. I'm a Republican. I believe in protecting the Constitution. I think we can do both that and protect our children in schools”
Gonzalez was a supporter of one gun safety legislation--the bipartisan Safer Community Act. The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act is a landmark United States federal law passed during the 117th United States Congress. It implemented several changes to the mental health system, school safety programs, and gun safety laws

El pasado miércoles 24 de mayo de 2023 se cumplió un año del fallecimiento de los Uvalde 21 que fueron sepultados. Quedan tantas preguntas sin respuesta que siguen atormentando a la comunidad y los padres aún están de luto por la pérdida de sus seres queridos. La agitación violenta de ese martes por la mañana comenzó exactamente a las 11:33 cuando un solo tirador, Ramos, ingresó al edificio de la escuela primaria y se atrincheró en el salón 111 contra 376 agentes de la ley que convergieron en la escena. 77 minutos después, exactamente a las 12:50 p.m. Ramos, un ex alumno de la escuela, sale del armario de suministros y comienza a abrir fuego, luego de lo cual un equipo de brecha devuelve el fuego en el proceso y lo mata.
En cuanto a la actualización de la legislación de seguridad de armas, The Lead with Jake Tapper de CNN entrevistó al congresista Tony Gonzales (R-TX), quien representa a la ciudad de Uvalde.
“Hoy es un día difícil para los padres que perdieron a sus hijos, también para los padres cuyos hijos sobrevivieron al tiroteo”, dijo González.
“Congresista, los padres siguen luchando para obtener respuestas, siguen luchando por la rendición de cuentas. ¿Por qué tarda tanto? ¿Alguna vez obtendrán las respuestas que se merecen? Tapper preguntó.
“Estoy menos interesado en señalar con el dedo y culpar a otras personas y estoy más interesado en trabajar con otros para lograr que se hagan leyes significativas. Sabes, soy un conservador. Soy republicano. Creo en proteger la Constitución. Creo que podemos hacer eso y proteger a nuestros niños en las escuelas”
González era partidario de una legislación de seguridad de armas: la Ley bipartidista de Comunidad más Segura. La Ley bipartidista de comunidades más seguras es una ley federal histórica de los Estados Unidos aprobada durante el 117º Congreso de los Estados Unidos. Implementó varios cambios en el sistema de salud mental, los programas de seguridad escolar y las leyes de seguridad de armas.
