San Angelo City Manager, Daniel Valenzuela and wife, Suzanna rolled up their sleeves and stepped up together to do whatever needed to be done to help their community in the midst of a brutal winter storm.
SAN ANGELO – San Angelo City Manager Daniel Valenzuela and wife Suzanna went through the brutal winter storm that ravaged across the Concho Valley for almost a week, in mid-February, just like everyone else.
Valenzuela’s status at home without water for several days took a backseat to his duties as a city public official. He didn’t spend much time at home as his plate was full working together with Emergency Operations Coordinator Jim Evans to acquire the needed resources such as water. “During a two-week period, we acquired 29 semi-trucks loaded with bottled water.”
Meanwhile Suzanna with that positive can-do attitude and pioneering spirit, ever the resourceful person she is, rolled up her sleeves and made their home into a sort of “command center” to assist her husband to make sure there was water and food for those in need to get through the ordeal.
Valenzuela concluded the interview with a thanks and appreciation for all the city employees who were in the trenches. “They gave everything they had above and beyond. It was all a team effort.”

El Administrador de la Ciudad de San Ángelo Daniel Valenzuela y su esposa Suzanna se unieron para hacer todo lo necesario para ayudar a su comunidad en medio de una brutal tormenta de invierno.
SAN ÁNGELO - El Administrador de la Ciudad de San Ángelo Daniel Valenzuela y su esposa Suzanna pasaron por la brutal tormenta de invierno que azotó el Valle del Concho durante casi una semana, a mediados de febrero, como todos los demás.
Los Valenzuela estuvieron en casa sin agua durante varios días, pero eso pasó a un segundo plano frente a sus deberes como funcionario público de la ciudad. No pasó mucho tiempo en casa ya que su plato estaba lleno trabajando junto con el Coordinador de Operaciones de Emergencia Jim Evans para adquirir los recursos necesarios, como el agua. “Durante un período de dos semanas, adquirimos 29 semirremolques cargados con agua embotellada”.
Mientras tanto, Suzanna con esa actitud positiva y espíritu pionero, siempre la persona ingeniosa que es, convirtió su hogar en una especie de "centro de comando" para ayudar a su esposo a asegurarse de que hubiera agua y comida para aquellos en necesidad.
Valenzuela concluyó la entrevista con un agradecimiento y reconocimiento a todos los empleados de la ciudad que estuvieron en las trincheras. “Dieron todo lo que tenían por encima y más allá. Todo fue un esfuerzo de equipo ".
