What Does the Bible Say?

The Bible has a lot to say about itself. Psalm 19 gives us several descriptions of the Word.

Psalm 19:7-11 “The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandments of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is they servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.”

From this scripture we learn:

1.      The law of the Lord is complete and gives life to the weary heart. (Verse 7)

2.      The word of God testifies to the wisdom of God. (Verse 7)

3.      The rules of God are so good they bring joy to the heart.

4.      The commandments are so pure they will last forever. (Verse 9)

5.      The commandments are desirable. (Verse 9)

6.      The word of God warns us of danger and rewards those who obey. (Verse 11)

Our desire should be for our words to be in agreement with God’s word.

¿Qué dice la Biblia?

La Biblia tiene mucho que decir sobre sí misma. El Salmo 19 nos da varias descripciones de la Palabra.

Salmo 19:7-11: “La ley del Señor es perfecta, que restaura el alma; el testimonio del Señor es fiel, que hace sabio al sencillo; los preceptos del Señor son rectos, que alegran el corazón; los mandamientos del Señor son puros, que alumbran los ojos; el temor del Señor es limpio, que permanece para siempre; las ordenanzas del Señor son verdaderas, todas justas. Son más deseables que el oro, mucho oro fino; más dulces que la miel y que destila del panal. Además, por ellas se amonesta al siervo; en guardarlas hay gran recompensa”.

De esta escritura aprendemos:

1. La ley del Señor es completa y da vida al corazón cansado. (Versículo 7)

2. La palabra de Dios da testimonio de su sabiduría. (Versículo 7)

3. Las reglas de Dios son tan buenas que alegran el corazón.

4. Los mandamientos son tan puros que perdurarán para siempre. (Versículo 9)

5. Los mandamientos son deseables. (Versículo 9)

6. La palabra de Dios nos advierte del peligro y recompensa a quienes obedecen. (Versículo 11)

Nuestro deseo debe ser que nuestras palabras concuerden con la palabra de Dios.
