Last week we began thinking about what a Christian is supposed to do with the Old Testament. Some try to obey all of it while others pick and choose.
What Does the Bible Say?
Romans 7:6-7 says… “But now we are discharged from the law, dead to that which held us captive, so that we serve not under the old written code but in the new life of the Spirit. What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet, if it had not been for the law, I should not have known sin. I should not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet!”
From this scripture, we learn:
1. Paul says we are discharged from the law.
2. We are dead to the law.
3. We do not serve the old written law but the new law of the Spirit.
4. Was the old law a bad thing? No! It taught us many things about God and us.
5. For example, if the Ten Commandments had not told us not to covet, we would have never known that covetousness is a sin.

¿QUÉ DICE LA BIBLIA?
La Parte 2 del Antiguo Testamento
La semana pasada comenzamos a pensar qué se supone que un cristiano debe hacer con el Antiguo Testamento. Algunos intentan obedecerlo todo mientras que otros escogen y eligen.
¿Qué dice la biblia?
Romanos 7: 6-7 dice ... “Pero ahora estamos exentos de la ley, muertos a lo que nos mantuvo cautivos, de modo que no servimos bajo el antiguo código escrito sino en la nueva vida del Espíritu. ¿Qué diremos entonces? ¿Que la ley es pecado? ¡De ninguna manera! Sin embargo, si no hubiera sido por la ley, no debería haberse conocido el pecado. No debería haberse sabido lo que es codiciar si la ley no hubiera dicho: "¡No codiciarás!"
De esta escritura, aprendemos:
1. Pablo dice que somos dados de baja de la ley.
2. Estamos muertos a la ley.
3. No servimos a la antigua ley escrita sino a la nueva ley del Espíritu.
4. ¿Fue la vieja ley algo malo? ¡No! Nos enseñó muchas cosas sobre Dios y nosotros.
5. Por ejemplo, si los Diez Mandamientos no nos hubieran dicho que no codiciamos, nunca habríamos sabido que la codicia es un pecado.
