San Angelo Stock Show Syndicate Announces Chase McPhaul Memorial Scholarship

New scholarship, established in partnership with the San Angelo Area Foundation, will honor Chase McPhaul’s legacy and support future Finewool champions

SAN ANGELO, Texas — April 13, 2026 — The San Angelo Stock Show Syndicate today announced the creation of the Chase McPhaul Memorial Scholarship, a new scholarship fund established to honor Chase McPhaul’s memory and create a lasting legacy for future youth exhibitors.

Chase McPhaul was a devoted husband, father, 4-H leader, and lifelong advocate for agriculture and the stock show community. Raised in West Texas, he developed an early love for sheep and went on to build a life centered around helping young people succeed in the livestock industry. He served for many years as the Reagan County 4-H agent, was deeply respected for his knowledge of sheep and stock showing, and was known for encouraging, mentoring, and helping countless families and exhibitors along the way. Chase especially loved the Finewool division, and his passion for livestock, youth, and the values of hard work and community left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He was also one of the first people to support the mission of the San Angelo Stock Show Syndicate, helping champion its purpose from the beginning.

Founded in 2019, the San Angelo Stock Show Syndicate is a charitable organization dedicated to raising money for youth exhibitors involved in the San Angelo Stock Show Premium Sale. The organization describes its mission as “Growing the Sale by Taking a Bottoms up Approach,” helping support exhibitors and families facing the rising costs of stock showing.

The scholarship will be established in partnership with the San Angelo Area Foundation, an organization that encourages philanthropy, manages endowed gifts, and administers scholarship funds for donors and organizations across the region.

The Syndicate will begin fundraising immediately with a goal of raising at least $50,000 by April 18, 2026. The organization plans to announce the final fundraising total following the 2026 San Angelo Stock Show Premium Sale on April 18, 2026.

Beginning in 2027, the Champion Finewool exhibitor at the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo will receive the Chase McPhaul Memorial Scholarship, with an award of at least $2,500, to be presented upon graduation for High School

The scholarship is intended to recognize and support young people who reflect the hard work, dedication, and agricultural values that meant so much to Chase and to the stock show community.

“Through this scholarship, we hope to honor Chase in a way that will continue making a difference year after year,” said Jack Graves, San Angelo Stock Show Syndicate Board President. “This is about building something lasting for the next generation of exhibitors and ensuring Chase’s legacy continues to live on through opportunities that help young people pursue their future.”
