Message from Walt Koenig, President/CEO

Members of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce:

We hope that you all are having a great week!

I’m pleased to announce that San Angelo has been selected to host the annual Texas Police Games in 2022. Every year police officers from across that state of Texas gather in an Olympic Games format to compete across many events. We had the honor of hosting representatives of the Board of Directors of the Police Games in San Angelo Last weekend, and they are excited to host this event in our community. Kudos to our Convention and Visitors Bureau for landing this very prestigious event. I’m very proud to be a part of a community that both respects and is grateful for our law enforcement community.

We have had an overwhelming response to our request for applications for our 20 Under 40 program. The deadline for applications is TODAY so if you haven’t nominated your choice candidate do it now. Nomination forms are available on the Chamber website, www.sanangelo.org, or at the Chamber. The awards banquet will be in October and sponsorship opportunities are available.

We are also taking applications for the upcoming Leadership San Angelo class. Leadership San Angelo is a program of education and networking that affords class members the opportunity to learn about our city and county while becoming a part of an alumni organization consisting of hundreds of community leaders. Class size is limited to thirty so get your applications in today. Applications are available on the Chamber website, www.sanangelo.org.

The Chamber’s monthly Business at Happy Hour events are a great way to meet new people and to see old friends. Our happy hour events are typically on the fourth Tuesday of the month and August’s Business at Happy Hour will be on the 24th of August at 5pm. This month’s event will be hosted by the Adult Literacy Council of the Concho Valley and sponsored by A-B Distributing. The Adult Literacy Council is located at 58 East 6th Street. We will have food, fun, drinks, and door prizes so please come by and bring a friend!

Our Chamber family continues increase our numbers and I’m pleased to report that we just enjoyed our sixteenth month of net membership growth. With over 1,000 members, we are now one of the largest chambers in West Texas. We always welcome those who want to join our dynamic chamber community. If you know of an organization, business or individual who would be interested in joining our chamber, please let us know and we will make sure that they feel welcome!

Finally, we have a great calendar of activities planned so visit our new and improved website at www.sanangelo.org often as we are continually providing updates.

We greatly appreciate you all and hope you have a fantastic week!
