Inspiration
I heard a man on the news yesterday say that the Bible is a book written by men…in other words, good men attempting to explain their understanding of God to others.
What Does the Bible Say?
II Peter 1:19-21 says… “And we have the prophetic word made more sure. You will do well to pay attention to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. First of all, you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by the impulse of man, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.”
From this scripture, we learn:
1. Peter says we should pay attention to the scripture. V19
2. No prophecy of scripture is subjective in nature. The truths are universal. V20
3. These scriptures did not originate with men, but with God. V21
4. Men wrote what the Holy Spirit told them (moved by). V21
5. So, when these men were inspired by the Holy Spirit, they “spoke from God”.

Ayer escuché a un hombre en las noticias decir que la Biblia es un libro escrito por hombres ... en otras palabras, hombres buenos que intentan explicar su comprensión de Dios a los demás.
¿Qué dice la biblia?
II Pedro 1: 19-21 dice ... “Y tenemos la palabra profética más segura. Hará bien en prestar atención a esto como a una lámpara que brilla en un lugar oscuro, hasta que amanezca y la estrella de la mañana se eleve en sus corazones. En primer lugar, debes entender esto, que ninguna profecía de las Escrituras es una cuestión de interpretación propia, porque ninguna profecía llegó por el impulso del hombre, pero los hombres movidos por el Espíritu Santo hablaron de Dios".
De esta escritura, aprendemos:
1. Pedro dice que debemos prestar atención a las Escrituras. V19
2. Ninguna profecía de las Escrituras es de naturaleza subjetiva. Las verdades son universales. V20
3. Estas escrituras no se originaron con hombres, sino con Dios. V21
4. Los hombres escribieron lo que el Espíritu Santo les dijo (movido por). V21
5. Entonces, cuando estos hombres fueron inspirados por el Espíritu Santo, "hablaron de Dios".
