DEL RIO POLICE DEPARTMENT
On March 13th, 2024 at 8:55 a.m. the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 200 block of Space Blvd. to assist Animal Control. Upon arrival, police discovered a dog had been abandoned by its owner for an unknown time.
The dog was located inside an apartment with no food and limited water. The apartment’s electricity had been turned off. According to witnesses, the owner had not been seen for several days.
Animal Control Department obtained a warrant and the dog was successfully removed from the apartment.
This is considered an open investigation and criminal charges may be presented against the owner pending the results of a medical assessment.
