Diann Bayes, Vice President of Convention & Visitors Bureau opened the May 15 members stating her appreciation for her staff and volunteers. The topic during this luncheon concentrated on the importance of the travel and tourism industry.
“In Texas, travel and tourism is an 80-billion-dollar industry, it is the second largest export-oriented industry after oil and gas. This industry supported 1.2 million jobs,” stated Bayes. Travel and tourism effect every aspect of our economy. Visitor spending in 2017 saved every household $546 in taxes. It’s not only hotels and restaurants that benefit it’s the entire community.
The newest attraction in San Angelo is Paintbrush Alley. The Texas Film Office recently named San Angelo as a film friendly community, with that said in 2020 San Angelo will be launching their first film festival. This will take place in April and will be titled the San Angelo Revolution Film Festival.
“I have been in the travel and tourism industry for over 20 years and being here in San Angelo for 2 years now, I am blessed not only to sell the product but help in the development in what there is for the visitor to see and do,” commented Bayes.

SAN ANGELO – Manifestando su agradecimiento por su personal y voluntarios, Diann Bayes, vicepresidenta de la oficina de convenciones y visitantes abrió la reunión del 15 de mayo. Los discursos durante este almuerzo se concentraron en la importancia de la industria de viajes y turismo.
En Texas, los viajes y el turismo son una industria de 80 mil millones de dólares, es la segunda mayor industria orientada a la exportación después del petróleo y el gas. Esta industria apoyó 1.2 millones de empleos,” declaró Bayes. Los viajes y el turismo afectan todos los aspectos de nuestra economía. El gasto de los visitantes en 2017 ahorra a todos los hogares $ 546 en impuestos. No solo los hoteles y restaurantes son beneficiados, es toda la comunidad.
La atracción más nueva en San Angelo es el “Callejón del pincel” (Paintbrush Alley). La oficina de cine de Texas recientemente nombró a San Angelo como una comunidad amigable con el cine, con eso dicho en 2020 San Angelo lanzará su primer festival de cine. Este se llevará a cabo en abril y se titulará, festival de la revolución del de cine en San Angelo.
