Event Chairman: Kelly Jelensperger Cathy Hollowell News Release: British journalist Cathy Hollowell will discuss the comings and goings of the British royal family at an upcoming tea and talk in aid of the Hope for Nepal mission and the Terry Mikeska Foundation. Hollowell, who was a reporter and columnist for British newspapers in the 1970's and '80's and still has contacts close to the royals, will talk about Prince Harry's imminent deployment to Iraq and give updates about Prince Charles and Camilla's marriage and their new home in Wales. The event is at 3:45 p.m. May 2nd, 2019 at the Cactus Hotel. Tickets are $35 general admission and $50 for VIP. "So many people enjoy it, "It's a great reason for people to wear hats, it's a fun fund raiser, and there's a scrumptious tea, wine and scones." Hollowell, who is British but has lived in Houston for the past 30 years with her American husband, gleans her information from former employees of the royals and correspondents in Britain.


She still writes on occasion for the Daily Express and Daily Telegraph. During her years as a reporter in England, Hollowell went on tour with the Queen throughout the Middle East and at some time or another has met most of the royal family. In her talks Hollowell said she tries to make the royals come alive, debunk a few myths and entertain at the same time. "People have such a peculiar idea of the royal family," she said. "They think of them as cardboard figures, and they're actually very interesting people." Hollowell also has interviewed major stars of stage, screen and politics, including Margaret Thatcher, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Sophia Loren, The Osmonds, Ringo Starr, Bob Hopeand Ella Fitzgerald. She went on tour with Mohammed Ali, and she helped Bob Hope put together his first British golf tournament.
