Meals for the Elderly, Suzanna Valenzuela, Director of Development and Marketing, welcomed a sold out audience who attended the 2nd annual Dueling Pianos held at the McNease Convention Center on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

SAN ANGELO – Meals for the Elderly’s Dueling Pianos major fundraiser was such a huge success it turned out to be a sell-out with Art pieces all sold, delicious food, and live entertainment provided by a party band that raised the roof and won a new fanbase with its wide range of iconic cover songs.

The 2nd annual Dueling Pianos was held at the McNease Convention Center on Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 7 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. A meal was catered by Señor Chang.

Suzanna Valenzuela nearly two years into her job as Director of Development and Marketing, informed Conexión on good news that happened before the event took place.

First, this year’s major fundraiser met its goals in donations given before the popular event got underway. The second one was MFTE sold out the event with 356 seats occupied. Third, Bad Art for a Good Cause Auction’s every single piece of art was sold.

Valenzuela stated its nonprofit employees among them was Norma Dietz-Lee, Executive Director, and board members, all turned out for this worthy cause.

Suzanna, what makes this event only in its second year so popular? “One of the things that stands out which makes it different from other galas is there are not a lot of speeches, the attendees come to hear brief remarks, have a good time, listen to the music, and celebrate a great cause in supporting Meals for the Elderly.”

MFTE a nonprofit in existence for 52 years has always had “boots on the ground” volunteers who are dedicated to make meal delivery runs. The nonprofit’s volunteers are assigned 56 routes and deliver meals to 700 recipients on a daily basis.

“I think the elderly are dear to everyone’s heart; we all have a grandparent, a neighbor who is elderly. This is why it is so easy to relate to. These recipients were once living their lives like we are now. They just need some help. A lot of people want to pay it forward,” said Valenzuela. The next Meals for the Elderly, Senior Jubilee Christmas Program is currently underway. Suzanna said the recipients are called and asked to Make A Wish list. Then community partners are contacted to adopt a senior and buy what is on their Christmas list.
