The San Angelo Fire Department held a two-fold ceremony, which included retirement and promotion, on Friday, May 13, 2022 at the McNease Convention Center, North Room.

SAN ANGELO – “What they do as servants and as firefighters is so important. But more important than what they do, is who they are — men of character,” Pastor, Kevin Huddleston.
The San Angelo Fire Department held a two-fold — retirement, and promotion ceremony. Interim Chief Patrick Brody said that public service certainly fit both of the retiring members: Battalion Chief Jay Neely and Captain Chris Mowrey.
“The two biggest pillars and strengths of our department are walking out the door. When I think of the two of you it is of honor, courage, wisdom, strength, and duty come to mind. Duty to this profession, to this community, and duty to the brotherhood,” Brody said.
Neely’s 38 years of service started as a driver (1995), lieutenant (2002), captain (2006), and promoted to battalion chief (2016). Captain Mowrey’s 28 years included: instructional firefighter, promoted to driver (1996), lieutenant (2004), and captain (2008).
When it came time to make the retirement official, Neely’s wife, Susan, and Mowrey’s wife, Margie unpinned their husbands, which signified moving into retirement, followed by repinning them with retirement badges.
Prior to that ceremony was the promotion for seven firefighters:
• Andrew McEloy, Captain
• Daniel Bowling, Captain
• Aaron Fritze, Lieutenant
• Jason Strube, Lieutenant
• Joshua Rowe, Driver
• John Sánchez, Driver
• Michael Anderson, Battalion Chief
The seven were pinned by their wives with badges that represent a dedication to service.

El Departamento de Bomberos de San Ángelo celebró un evento de jubilación y ceremonia de ascenso. Cuando llegó el momento de honrar a los jubilados el Jefe Interino Patrick Brody dijo que el Jefe de Batallón Jay Neely y el Capitán Chris Mowrey se ajustan perfectamente al espíritu de servicio.
“Los dos pilares más grandes y la fuerza de nuestro departamento están saliendo por la puerta. Cuando pienso en ustedes dos, me vienen a la mente el honor, el coraje, la sabiduría, la fuerza y el deber. Deber a esta profesión, a esta comunidad y deber a la hermandad”, dijo Brody.
Los 38 años de servicio del Jefe de Batallón Neely comenzaron como conductor (1995), teniente (2002), capitán (2006) y fue ascendido a jefe de batallón (2016). Los 28 años del capitán Mowrey incluyeron: bombero en instrucción, ascendido a conductor (1996), teniente (2004) y capitán (2008).
Cuando llegó el momento de hacer oficial la jubilación, la esposa de Neely, Susan, y la esposa de Mowrey, Margie quitaron el broche a sus esposos, lo que significa entrar oficialmente a la jubilación, en seguida les prendieron las nuevas insignias de jubilación.
Previo a esa ceremonia se realizó el ascenso de siete de bomberos:
