Dr. Tony Evans, senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, was the keynote speaker at the 27th annual, National Prayer Breakfast held at the McNease Convention Center on Thursday, February 10, 2022.

SAN ANGELO – Dr. Tony Evans’ preaching from II Chronicles Chapter 15 delivered a strong message initially but ended with words of encouragement to a standing room capacity crowd which turned out for the 27th annual, National Prayer Breakfast in San Angelo.
“Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teachingpriest, and without law. But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them” II Chronicles chapter 15:3-4.
“The number one sin in the Bible, bar none, is idolatry. Israel, God’s people worshipped false gods,” said Dr. Evans. He then drove home the point that America too worships its own false gods.
“Today we have American idols — we worship politics, power, and money has become our source. People looked to politics to be their savior, educational institutions, to systems never designed to provide salvation which made them idolatrous.”
Dr. Evans clarified himself saying that those systems have their place and are supposed to be only resources, and not the source.
Evans, the president of The Urban Alternative, a national broadcast ministry and best-selling author, concluded with encouraging words to the community and the National Prayer Breakfast group to make this prayer meeting a launch for a prayer atmosphere that covers their community as a way of life.

SAN ÁNGELO – El sermón del Dr. Tony Evans, del Capítulo 15 de II Crónicas, transmitió un fuerte mensaje, pero terminó con palabras de aliento para una multitud que abarrotó el 27 Desayuno Nacional de Oración anual en San Ángelo.
“Israel ha estado largo tiempo sin el verdadero Dios, y sin sacerdote que enseñara, y sin ley. Pero cuando ellos en su angustia se volvieron a Jehová Dios de Israel, y lo buscaron, él fue hallado de ellos” II Crónicas capítulo 15:3-4.
“El pecado número uno en la Biblia, sin excepción, es la idolatría. Israel, el pueblo de Dios adoraba dioses falsos”, dijo el Dr. Evans. Luego recalcó el punto de que Estados Unidos también adora a sus propios dioses falsos.
“Hoy tenemos ídolos estadounidenses: adoramos la política, el poder y el dinero se ha convertido en nuestra fuente. La gente ve a la política como su salvador, a las instituciones educativas, a los sistemas que nunca fueron diseñados para proporcionar la salvación, lo que los convirtió en idólatras”.
El Dr. Evans aclaró diciendo que esos sistemas tienen su lugar y se supone que son solo recursos, y no la fuente.
