SAN ANGELO – Pastors Guillermo and Erica Cano have been in a discipleship home for 10 years now. “A discipleship home is different from a regular church that you would attend on Wednesdays and Sundays” commented Pastor Guillermo. When he was very young his parents moved the family Chicago to Texas to get away from the gangland. The family settled in San Antonio.
“All I knew was what I saw in Chicago, so I wanted to be in gangs” stated Pastor Guillermo. At the age of 13 he joined the Brownwood Gang in San Antonio, from there his life became a downward spiral of drugs, violence and crime. By the time Guillermo was 15 he was deep into cocaine, heroin and alcohol. Committing crimes, stealing and selling drugs for a living. “When I was17 years old I found myself with a one-way tick to prison on blue bird bus.” said Cano.
“I spent 3 years in prison, the homeboys would look out for me, they would say I didn’t belong there, and they began to show me bible studies” said Cano. He was placed in a one-man cell for 2 weeks due to a fight. During this time, he spoke to God. “I asked God if this bible is real then help me change, I don’t know how.” He started going to church in prison and began understanding the word. When he was released, he went back to the streets and almost lost his life after being stabbed 12 times. He spoke to God saying “I lied to myself, to my wife and to you Lord, I don’t deserve your mercy or grace. Lift me up one more time and I will change for you.”
God transformed his life at a higher level when he became part of the discipleship home. “God restored my marriage and my relationship with my stepdaughters, and the Lord spoke to my heart saying, you are going to start a ministry in San Angelo” stated Cano. Months later they packed up and move. They opened their own home to let men women and children off the streets. This is the beginning of many homes to be established in San Angelo. “The Vision that God has given me is to set Odessa as our next target”. Pastor Guillermo’s ministry is The Houze of Power.
Also, Erica is a Pastor and led a hard life of depression and anxiety. For the young ladies and women that are struggling she says, “there is one man who will never lie, cheat or hurt you, who will always love you no matter what and that is Jesus Christ.”

SAN ANGELO – Los pastores Guillermo y Erica Cano han estado en una casa de discipulado por 10 años. “Una casa de discipulado es diferente a una iglesia regular a la que asistirías los miércoles y domingos”, comentó el pastor Guillermo. Cuando era muy joven, sus padres se mudaron de Chicago a Texas para alejarse de las pandillas. La familia se instaló en San Antonio.
"Todo lo que sabía era lo que veía en Chicago, así que quería estar en pandillas", declaró el pastor Guillermo. A la edad de 13 años se unió a la pandilla Brownwood en San Antonio, desde allí su vida se convirtió en un espiral descendente de drogas, violencia y crimen. Para cuando Guillermo tenía 15 años, ya había consumido cocaína, heroína y alcohol. Cometía delitos, robaba y vendía drogas para vivir. "Cuando tenía 17 años de edad, me encontré con un boleto de ida a la cárcel en el autobús ave azul", dijo Cano.
Dijo Cano. “Pasé 3 años en prisión, los muchachos del lugar me cuidaban, decían que no pertenecía allí y comenzaron a mostrarme estudios bíblicos". Debido a una pelea fue metido en una celda individual por dos semanas. Durante ese tiempo habló con Dios. "Le pregunté a Dios si esta biblia es real, entonces ayúdame a cambiar, yo no sé cómo". Comenzó a ir a la iglesia en la cárcel y comenzó a entender la palabra. Cuando fue liberado, volvió a las calles y casi perdió la vida después de ser apuñalado 12 veces. Él habló a Dios diciendo: “Me mentí a mí mismo, a mi esposa y a ti, Señor, no merezco tu misericordia ni tu gracia. Levántame una vez más y cambiaré por ti".
Dios transformó su vida a un nivel mayor cuando se convirtió en parte de la casa de discipulado. Dijo Cano "Dios restauró mi matrimonio y mi relación con mis hijastras, y el Señor habló a mi corazón diciendo: vas a comenzar un ministerio en San Angelo". Meses después empacaron y se mudaron. Abrieron su propia casa para qué hombres, mujeres y niños salgan de las calles. Este es el comienzo de muchas casas que se establecerán en San Ángelo. "La visión que Dios me ha dado es fijar a Odessa como nuestro próximo objetivo". El ministerio del pastor Guillermo es el poder de la casa.
Erica también es Pastora y llevó una dura vida de depresión y ansiedad. Para las jóvenes y las mujeres que están luchando, ella dice: "hay un hombre que nunca te mentirá, te engañará o te hará daño, que siempre te amará y ese es Jesucristo".
