¡Identidad secreta revelada! Santa Claus es muy conocido en San Angelo

Tras esa barba blanca como la nieve se esconde un rostro familiar en San Angelo. El Santa Claus del Museo del Ferrocarril de 2025 es el administrador municipal Daniel Valenzuela, quien anunció su jubilación del gobierno municipal el próximo año.

Valenzuela llegará al Museo del Ferrocarril a bordo de una locomotora Texas Pacifico el sábado 13 de diciembre a las 10:00 a. m. «Ha sido un honor para mí servir a la ciudad de San Angelo durante 13 años, hasta mi jubilación en octubre próximo», expresó. «Me siento afortunado de haber representado a la comunidad. Me da un poco de nostalgia irme, pues extrañaré mucho a mis compañeros de trabajo y a los funcionarios en todos los niveles».

Valenzuela jamás imaginó que su próximo trabajo sería interpretar al mismísimo San Nicolás. “Jamás pensé que sería Santa Claus”, dijo entre risas, “pero me estoy divirtiendo mucho y agradezco la invitación”.

La Sra. Claus es conocida por todos los aficionados al ferrocarril, ya que Suzanna Valenzuela fue presidenta de la Junta Directiva del Museo del Ferrocarril durante cinco años. Aportó innovación y un nuevo propósito al museo, guiándolo hasta su posición actual. Los miembros de la Junta del museo aún solicitan su consejo, puesto que ella organizó la Navidad de Santa en Santa Fe durante los últimos cinco años.

“Nunca pensé en ser la Sra. Claus, pero ahora que se ha cerrado el círculo, me siento honrada de que me lo hayan pedido”, comentó. A principios de este año, asumió el cargo de Directora de Desarrollo y Marketing de Comidas para Personas Mayores.

Santa Claus y la Sra. Claus no se mudarán al Polo Norte próximamente. “Nos quedaremos en San Angelo”, afirmó Valenzuela. “No me imagino viviendo en otro lugar. Mi trabajo en la ciudad ha sido mi gran pasión y quiero lo mejor para ella. Seguiré deseándole lo mejor a la ciudad en el futuro.”

Santa is well-known in San Angelo

Behind that snow white beard is a familiar face in San Angelo. The 2025 Railway Museum’s Santa Claus is City Manager Daniel Valenzuela, who has announced he will be retiring from City government next year.

Valenzuela will ride into the Railway Museum on a Texas Pacifico engine Saturday, Dec 13 at 10 a.m. “It’s been the honor of my professional career to serve the City of San Angelo for 13 years when I retire next October,” he said. “I’m blessed to have represented the community. It is bittersweet leaving because I will really miss the people I have worked with and the officials in every capacity.”

Valenzuela hadn’t thought that his next job move would be jolly old Saint Nicholas. “I never in my life thought I would be Santa,” he said with a laugh,” but I’m finding it is really fun and I’m grateful to be asked.”

Mrs. Claus is familiar to all railfans, because Suzanna Valenzuela was the president of the Board of Directors of the Railway Museum for five years. She brought innovation and purpose to the museum and steered it to its current position. The members of the museum’s Board are still asking for her guidance since she organized Santa’s Santa Fe Christmas for the last five years.

“I never thought of doing Mrs. Claus myself, but now that it’s come full circle I’m honored to be asked,” she said. Earlier this year she became the Director of Development and Marketing for Meals for the Elderly.

Santa and Mrs. Claus won’t be moving to the North Pole anytime soon. “We will stay in San Angelo,” Valenzuela said. “I can’t imagine living anywhere else. The City job has been my great love, and I want the best for them. I’ll continue wishing the City the best as we go forward.”
