SAN ANGELO - Recently, Mr. Gregorio Gutiérrez interviewed Mr. A. J. Moore CEO of San Angelo YMCA, Mr. Moore commented on the previous CEO who retired from the YMCA.
"The previous CEO was here for a long time, and if it were not for him, I would not be here, he was my mentor, but now I could bring a little more community support because I'm from San Angelo.
I'm not afraid to take a chance, the new building is something we've been talking about for many years. We have been waiting for the right moment. We knew that we need to expand because we have waiting lists. So, when the old Morris building was available I took my board and we agreed it was a good buy.
One thing about the YMCA is that we do not borrow money, we save our pennies until we have enough money to compare and pay for something. We made the purchase of the building, as well as the car wash that is behind everything, this fit into place. Our goal is already started with our fundraising. We are now in the process of writing a letter of donations to certain foundations. We believe that around 18 months to 2 years we can raise the money and probably another 10 months to a year to build the building.
This is not a place only for privileged people or only for doctors, this place is for everyone because YMCA never rejects anyone, every year grants more than $300, 000 in scholarships that cover membership of the programs before school and after school classes or for sports such as soccer and basketball.
For the summer we will be doing a brick paving campaign that can register the name of organizations, companies, businesses or families, for anyone who calls the YMCA we can take the donation since we have an account configuration in the bank for the construction of the new building". Mr. Moore ended by saying.

SAN ANGELO – Recientemente el señor Gregorio Gutiérrez entrevistó al señor A. J. Moore CEO de San Ángelo YMCA, el señor Moore comentó respecto al anterior CEO quien se jubiló de YMCA.
“El CEO anterior estuvo aquí por largo tiempo, y si no fuera por él, yo no estaría aquí, él era mi mentor, pero ahora yo pude traer un poco más de apoyo comunitario porque soy de aquí de San Ángelo.
No tengo miedo de arriesgarme, el nuevo edificio es algo de lo que hemos estado hablando durante muchos años. Hemos estado esperando el momento adecuado. Sabíamos que necesitamos expandirnos porque tenemos listas de espera. Así, que cuando el antiguo edificio Morris estuvo disponible yo me ruine con mi mesa directiva y acordamos que era una buena compra.
Una cosa sobre el YMCA es que no pedimos dinero prestado, ahorramos nuestros centavos hasta que tengamos suficiente dinero para comparar y pagar algo. Hicimos la compra del edificio, así como el lavado de autos que está detrás del edificio, esto encajó en su lugar.
Nuestro objetivo ya lo comenzamos con nuestra recaudación de fondos. Ahora estamos en el proceso de escribir una carta de donativos a ciertas fundaciones. Creemos que alrededor de 18 meses a 2 años podemos recaudar el dinero y probablemente otros 10 meses a un año para construir el edificio.
Este no es un lugar solo para personas en privilegio o solo para médicos, este lugar es para todos porque YMCA nunca rechaza a nadie, cada año otorga más de 300, 000 en becas que cubren membresía de los programas para antes de clases y después de clases de la escuela o por deportes como futbol y basquetbol.
Para el verano estaremos haciendo una campaña de pavimentación de ladrillos que puedan inscribir el nombre de organizaciones, compañías, negocios o de familias, para cualquiera que llame a YMCA podemos tomar la donación ya tenemos una configuración de cuenta en el banco para la construcción del nuevo edificio”.
