On 1/30/22 around 11:46pm, Officers were dispatched to 850 Paint Rock road in reference to a Domestic Disturbance call.
Prior to officer’s arrival, it was learned that the suspect (Devan Gamez 22yoa) was attempting to leave the scene in a vehicle.
Officers arrived on scene and contacted Devan as he was sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle.
Officers attempted to remove Devan from the vehicle at which point Devan started the vehicle and proceeded to place the transmission in “reverse.”
Devan drove the vehicle in reverse and proceeded to drag the officer for a few feet before the officer fell and had their leg ran over by Devan’s vehicle. After running over the officer’s leg, Devan placed the vehicle transmission in the “drive” position and proceeded to drive his vehicle over the injured officer for a second time.
Devan then exited the vehicle and a secondary officer deployed a “TASER” on Devan which ultimately resulted in him being taken into custody.
The injured officer was transported to Shannon Medical Center and was released prior to this release with minor injuries.
SAPD’s Criminal Investigations Division arrived on scene to conduct their investigation and ultimately charged Devan with Aggravated Assault against a Public Servant and Assault by Contact involving Family Violence.
Devan was then transported to Tom Green County Jail without further incident.

El 1/30/22 alrededor de las 11:46 p. m., los oficiales fueron enviados a 850 Paint Rock Road en referencia a una llamada de disturbios domésticos. Antes de la llegada del oficial, se supo que el sospechoso (Devan Gamez, 22 años) intentaba abandonar la escena en un vehículo.
Los oficiales llegaron a la escena y contactaron a Devan mientras estaba sentado en el asiento del conductor de un vehículo. Los oficiales intentaron sacar a Devan del vehículo, momento en el que Devan encendió el vehículo y procedió a colocar la transmisión en "reversa".
Devan condujo el vehículo en reversa y procedió a arrastrar al oficial unos pocos pies antes de que el oficial cayera y el vehículo de Devan le pasara por encima la pierna. Después de atropellar la pierna del oficial, Devan colocó la transmisión del vehículo en la posición de "conducir" y procedió a conducir su vehículo sobre el oficial herido por segunda vez.
Luego, Devan salió del vehículo y un oficial secundario desplegó un "TASER" en Devan que finalmente resultó en su detención.
El oficial lesionado fue transportado al Centro Médico Shannon y fue dado de alta antes de esta liberación con heridas leves.
La División de Investigaciones Criminales de SAPD llegó a la escena para llevar a cabo su investigación y finalmente acusó a Devan de agresión agravada contra un servidor público y agresión por contacto que involucra violencia familiar.
Luego, Devan fue transportado a la cárcel del condado de Tom Green sin más incidentes.
