SAN ANGELO – San Angelo Community Medical Center held their First Annual Life Saver Award Ceremony on May 9th at the SACMC Conference Room. This ceremony recognized five emergency medical service employees for their efforts in saving the life of a woman that suffered a heart attack. Dr. Jack Sun was the cardiologist on duty on the day of the event happened.
Issues with the heart muscle requires getting to the hospital quickly, because during a heart attack for every minuet that goes by there is heart tissue lost. Long-term effect of this is congestive heart failure. “To do what we do it all starts with EMS, we appreciate what you do every single day.” Stated Dr. Sun.
Some of the patient’s family members attended the award ceremony emotionally stating “this is a job for you and you save lives every day, it might not be a big deal to you, but it is a big deal to the families, because of you she got to spend more time with her great grand daughter and her great grandson”
The EMS personnel that were recognized were; McShane Matthews, Ben Heinz, Darin Wright, Larry Hill and Ben Ashlock
The patients spouse told the CEO “When those guys got here there was no question that they knew what they were doing.” The SACMC, CEO stated “he wanted to give his sincere thanks to the personnel involved in saving the life of this particular patient.
Kelly Hudson, the chest pain and heart failure coordinator at SACMC stated “Symptoms of a heart attack can include; chest pain, nausea, shortness of breath and arm pain. In women it is also possible to feel back and / or stomach pain. If anyone finds themselves having these symptoms call 911, it is the fastest and safest way to get to the hospital”

SAN ANGELO – El San Angelo Community Medical Center, el 9 de mayo en la Sala SACMC se llevó a cabo su primera ceremonia de premiación anual salvando vidas. Esta ceremonia reconoció a cinco empleados del servicio médico de emergencia por sus esfuerzos para salvar la vida de una mujer que sufrió un ataque al corazón. El Dr. Jack Sun fue el cardiólogo de servicio en el día que pasó el evento.
Con problemas del músculo cardíaco se requiere rápidamente llegar al hospital, porque durante un ataque cardíaco por cada minuto que pasa, se pierde tejido cardíaco. El efecto a largo plazo de esto es la insuficiencia cardíaca congestiva. "Para hacer lo que hacemos, todo comienza con EMS, apreciamos lo que hacen todos los días", declaró el Dr. Sun. Algunos de los familiares de los pacientes asistieron a la ceremonia de premiación emocionalmente diciendo que "este es un trabajo para usted y usted salva vidas todos los días, puede que no sea un gran evento para usted, pero para las familias si lo es, gracias a ustedes, ella puede pasar más tiempo con su bisnieta y bisnieto”.
El personal de EMS que se reconoció fue; McShane Matthews, Ben Heinz, Darin Wright, Larry Hill y Ben Ashlock. El cónyuge del paciente le dijo al CEO: "Cuando llegaron estas personas, no hubo duda de que sabían lo que estaban haciendo". El CEO del SACMC declaró: "Quería agradecer sinceramente al personal involucrado en salvar la vida de este paciente en particular".
Kelly Hudson, coordinadora de dolor torácico e insuficiencia cardíaca en SACMC, declaró: “Los síntomas de un ataque cardíaco pueden incluir: Dolor en el pecho, náuseas, dificultad para respirar y dolor en el brazo. En las mujeres también es posible sentir dolor de espalda o en el estómago. Si alguien tiene estos síntomas, llame al 911, es la forma más rápida y segura de llegar al hospital".
