The San Angelo Schools Foundation (SASF) hosted their annual Grants to Teachers Award Ceremony at the Legrand Alumni Center on the campus of Angelo State university on Tuesday, November 12th. Founded in 1986 the organization has been providing grants to teachers since 1989.

Funding for these grants comes from sponsors, and fundraisers. Teachers and principals also contribute to the fund. “This year we awarded 88 grants to 144 teachers over 25 campuses and 3 all campus grants totaling $86,715,” commented Debbie Meads, Chief Operations officer for San Angelo Schools Foundation.

At the event Meads mentioned she will be retiring. “I’ve met my goals and the I’ve got other fences to build. I have some things in the horizon,” concluded Meads.
