Eddye Zuniga-Sánchez will be among 130 ASU seniors to participate in the first historic, "Raíces y Sueños" 11 a.m. graduation ceremony to held on Friday, May 13, 2022 in the Mayer Administration Building/ ASU auditorium.

SAN ANGELO – "Raíces y Sueños" translated roots and dreams, symbolizes that no matter where our dreams take us, we stay grounded by our roots.”
For Eddye Zuniga-Sánchez, his dream (sueño) was to see 129 other fellow graduates regardless of ethnicity, race or degree program participate in the first ever “Raíces y Sueños" ceremony held on Friday, May 13, 2022 in the Mayer Administration Building/ ASU auditorium.
Zuniga-Sánchez, 2021-2022 president of the Association of Mexican-American Students (AMAS), his mentor, and former AMAS member, Cody Vasquez collaborated to bring this to pass. “Originally it was first called, Hispanic/Latinx celebration. But we changed the name because we wanted to include all nationalities at the university,” said Zuniga.
This year’s 2022 “Roots and Dreams” will be historic for Angelo State University’s 130 who applied to be included in this being the very first one. It will be even more meaningful for Eddye. “To see something that I have worked on for months in countless meetings with faculty and administrators and to go before the student body is so amazing!”
The "Raíces y Sueños" guest speaker will be Dr. Flor Madero. The person who will bestow the graduation stoles on the seniors will be Dr. John Klingermann, AMAS advisor.
Zuniga-Sánchez and the other 129 "Raíces y Sueños" seniors are also scheduled to walk the stage and receive their degrees on Saturday, May 14, 2022 in the Junell Center/Stephens Arena. Zuniga is a first-generation graduate in his family who will receive his MBA.

Eddye Zuniga-Sánchez estará entre los 130 estudiantes de último año de ASU que participarán en la primera ceremonia de graduación histórica "Raíces y Sueños" a las 11 a.m. que se llevo acabo el viernes 13 de mayo de 2022 en el edificio de administración Mayer/auditorio de ASU.

SAN ANGELO – "Raíces y Sueños" traducido raíces y sueños, simboliza que no importa a dónde nos lleven nuestros sueños, nos mantenemos anclados en nuestras raíces”.
Para Eddye Zuniga-Sánchez, su sueño era ver a otros 129 compañeros graduados, independientemente de su origen étnico, raza o programa de grado, participar en la primera ceremonia de "Raíces y Sueños" que se llevó a cabo el viernes 13 de mayo de 2022 en el Edificio Administrativo Mayer. / Auditorio ASU.
Zuniga-Sánchez, presidente 2021-2022 de la Asociación de Estudiantes Mexicanos-Americanos (AMAS), su mentor y exmiembro de AMAS, Cody Vasquez, colaboró para que esto sucediera. “Originalmente se llamó celebración Hispana/Latinx. Pero cambiamos el nombre porque queríamos incluir todas las nacionalidades en la universidad”, dijo Zúñiga.
“Roots and Dreams” de este año 2022 será histórico para los 130 de Angelo State University que solicitaron ser incluidos en este siendo el primero. Será aún más significativo para Eddye. “¡Ver algo en lo que he trabajado durante meses en innumerables reuniones con profesores y administradores y presentarme ante el alumnado es increíble!”
La disertante invitada de "Raíces y Sueños" será la Dra. Flor Madero. La persona que entregará las estolas de graduación a los seniors será el Dr. John Klingermann, asesor de AMAS.
Zuniga-Sánchez y los otros 129 estudiantes de último año de "Raíces y Sueños" también subirán al escenario y recibirán sus títulos el sábado 14 de mayo de 2022 en el Junell Center/Stephens Arena. Zuniga es un graduado de primera generación en su familia que recibirá su MBA.
