SAN ANGELO — Sammie Velasquez, whose business is named The Hive Studio, perfectly fits the definition of hive, “a place in which people are busily occupied.”
At Sammie’s open house held on Friday, January 14, 2022, she was one “busy bee” here and there, making sure everyone was welcomed with open arms, hugs and acknowledged.
Velasquez, who is vivacious, energetic, and exudes a positive personality, informed Conexión that she felt The Hive needed to go in a different direction. “God gave me a vision though I didn’t understand it but I was obedient to what He was calling me to do.”
Velasquez began a new faith adventure with the move last October to the new location, 9 W. Beauregard with Studio added behind The Hive name also.
Within the business, which Sammie says everyone is in a sense is on equal footing, she believes in working together, and not necessarily working for her. Currently The Hive Studio houses 12 entrepreneurs whose wares range anywhere from Erika Martin’s South Elm St Boutique, to Emily Harris’ Ryan Reid Collection, and The Carr Shop etc.
Sammie’s motto is “Human. Kind. Be both.” “We’re all human and we are going to make mistakes. So have enough grace and be kind because you are going to need that kindness one day for yourself.”
None of Sammie’s original plans or ideas to get The Hive Studio going got off the ground until “I was O.K. without knowing and allowing God to be God in this situation.”
And now Velasquez who lives that motto “Human. Kind. Be both” is joyous that her fellow entrepreneurs have their own space thanks to her obedience and trust in the Lord.

El lema de Sammie es “Humano. Amable. Ser Ambos.” “Todos somos humanos y vamos a cometer errores. Así que ten suficiente gracia y sé amable porque algún día necesitarás esa amabilidad para ti”.
Ninguno de los planes o ideas originales de Sammie para poner en marcha The Hive Studio despegó hasta que “estaba bien sin saber y permitir que Dios sea Dios en esta situación”.
Y ahora Velásquez que vive ese lema “Humano. Amable. Ser Ambos” se alegra de que sus compañeros emprendedores tengan su propio espacio gracias a su obediencia y confianza en el Señor.
