Jim Sanchez, Jr. is the oldest of four siblings. “Growing up we saw our parents work hard, they gave us a work ethic,” commented Sanchez. His father was in construction and his mother was the home caretaker. The siblings were not given allowances they were sent to work. Jim worked in construction with his father, his sisters and brother worked at Luby’s. “Our parents made sure we understood the value of hard work and how to get things. They didn’t give us things, they made us work for it,” commented Sanchez.
From 2001 – 2006 Sanchez had the opportunity to go back to school as a nontraditional student. Sanchez expressed his appreciation for his family. “I didn’t make it by myself, my family helped me to get where I am, I didn’t graduate by myself,” said Sanchez. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with a Major in communications and a minor in journalism.
Sanchez was working at ARP when he met Gregorio Gutierrez, CEO of Conexión. After his commitment to ARP was completed, he contacted Gregorio about working at Conexión. November 4, 2013, Jim Sanchez, Jr. began his career at Conexión San Angelo as a salesman then became an editor on Jan 5, 2015. It was 7 years between earning his degree and having the opportunity to work in his field. “When I came to you all I had was a degree, you gave me the title of editor and reporter,” commented Sanchez.
“First is my relationship with God then with my family then the business,” stated Sanchez. At the end of every year, Sanchez not only closes the books for the business but also in the current chapter of his life. “I get on my knees and tell the Lord I want to start the new year with a new chapter. What are you speaking to my life?” commented Sanchez.
Taking care of his mother’s family was the new chapter. He does this by praying for them and spending time with them. Jim took care of his mom for over 2 years. “She was a woman of forgiveness, love integrity, grace, and commitment,” stated Sanchez
Jim Sanchez, Jr. is proud to be able to speak Spanish or more tex-mex. He encourages the young generation of Hispanics that are educated to stay true to their roots and language. “I want to raise up a generation of entrepreneurs and dream seekers,” concluded Sanchez.
Dios, ética y trabajo
Jim Sanchez, Jr. es el mayor de cuatro hermanos. "Al crecer vimos a nuestros padres trabajar duro, ellos nos dieron una ética de trabajo", comentó Sánchez. Su padre estaba en construcción y su madre era la cuidadora del hogar. A los hermanos no se les daba gratificaciones, se les envió a trabajar. Jim trabajó en la construcción con su padre, sus hermanas y su hermano trabajaron en Luby's. “Nuestros padres se aseguraron de que entendiéramos el valor del trabajo duro y cómo obtener las cosas. No nos dieron cosas, nos hicieron trabajar para ello ", comentó Sánchez.
De 2001 a 2006, Sánchez tuvo la oportunidad de volver a la escuela como estudiante no habitual. Sánchez expresó su aprecio por su familia. "No lo hice solo, mi familia me ayudó a llegar a donde estoy, no me gradué solo", dijo Sánchez. Obtuvo su licenciatura en Artes con una especialización en comunicaciones y un bachillerato en periodismo.
Sánchez estaba trabajando en ARP cuando conoció a Gregorio Gutiérrez, CEO de Conexión. Después de completar su compromiso con ARP, se reunió con Gregorio para trabajar en Conexión. Jim Sánchez, Jr. comenzó su carrera como vendedor en Conexión San Angelo el 4 de noviembre de 2013 y luego se convirtió en editor el 5 de enero de 2015. Pasaron 7 años entre su título y la oportunidad de trabajar en su campo. "Cuando llegué a usted todo lo que tenía era un título, me dio el título de editor y reportero. Después de dejar Conexión en la primavera de 2019, lancé mi propio negocio a tiempo completo, Flaco Guapo Media”, comentó Sánchez.
"Primero es mi relación con Dios, luego con mi familia y luego el negocio", dijo Sánchez. Al final de cada año, Sánchez no solo cierra los libros para el negocio sino también el capítulo actual de su vida. “Me arrodillo y le digo al Señor que quiero comenzar el nuevo año con un nuevo capítulo. ¿Qué le estás hablando a mi vida? ” Comentó Sánchez.
El nuevo capítulo para él fue cuidar de la familia de su madre. Lo hace rezando por ellos y pasando tiempo con ellos. Durante más de 2 años Jim cuidó de su madre. Sánchez dijo, "Era una mujer de perdón, amor, integridad, gracia y compromiso."
Jim Sanchez, Jr. se enorgullece de poder hablar español o más tex-mex. Él alienta a la generación joven de hispanos que están educados a mantenerse fieles a sus raíces e idioma. Sánchez concluyendo dijo. "Quiero criar una generación de emprendedores y buscadores de sueños".
